I'm a little artist in the big, dark woods tracking the progress - or procrastination - of various artistic endeavors as I prepare to leap into a bigger pond. Sprinkled in between these are the extreme weather/scenery of Kitimat and the surrounding region as well as local situations that catch my attention.

Meat-On-A-Stick And Fireworks!
That's how we know we're having FUN!!!
Cause really...ya know, when you have meat on a stick...it really is... fun! And yum!
The husband and I checked out the Very Huge Building that Ushers In the New Era for The Company.
Impressive and Uber in every way, which is typical of all Company undertakings in our region
So...anyway...this building is 1200 plus feet long. Ree-healy!
3 football fields in standard measurements.
I'd mention The Company but then Ralph would have to check out my lil' blog entry. Sometimes I entertain the notion of referring to The Company in my blog 'n then saying "HA!! made you look!" because Mr. R.R. has set his computer or some program to flag all and any entries concerning the company.
For this one, I just want to be a little, local fly on the wall.
A very well fed, entertained* fly.
*O|H! the fireworks?! Amazing from my studio which is 5 K and 300 feet above where they were deployed.

'Icing' On The Cake
The house has stood empty for years if not a couple of decades. It looked sad enough in this condition but then the past winter pulled down one of the trees in the backyard adding this final, perfect touch.

Cool Green Pool
Watercolour...8" X 10"
Another favorite spot for TwinB 'n me. Moore Creek just around the corner from the falls. I've always loved the small green pool created by currents rushing past rock jutting into the water. Straight ahead and almost below the overhang of the cliff is a larger pool, ideal for cooling down (if not rendering one absolutely speechless from cold) on a hot August afternoon.

The First Week of Spring
All over town people have begun dismantling their snow piles; a few get a little over enthused with it. Our neighbor beside us commented that we might need snowshoes due the ammount of snow back on the road.
My husband looked outside and noticed the young fellow across the street going at his pile with an ATV. At first he thought the kid was high marking his snow pile but then it became more obvious that he was chewing at the edges.
And me? I've decided that my snow can be flung around to the side of the house where it can slow down that stinking piece of lawn that always gets a jump on everything else.
Finally - a good application for snow pile removal.

Robotic Rainbow
Ever seen one before??
I haven't but it sure made sense when this Kindergarten student informed that's what this is.
I'd really been wondering about some of the extra little lines he'd carefully inserted between the normal bands of colour. So there you have it; robotic rainbow. Not sure if it has any extra functions.

And Piles To Go Before I Sleep ; )
Conditions have rendered the sign above a tad redundant.
Aaaand here we find ourselves uttering the infamous 'don't touch the powerlines'. Admonitions not heard since the '70s. We've only had 18&1/2 feet of snow this winter; the snowiest season I ever witnessed was 24 feet and the all time biggie in '72 totalled 40 feet. The difference is in having cooler days of sun rather than endless gray and ice cold rain following each snow. The rain doesn't make the snow disappear though it does pack it down a bit.

Epic Snow
That's my house back there. The neighbor across the street took this photo following a 105cm snowfall in 24 hours from Sunday to Monday morning. It's not a record and all the schools were open on Monday.
We have a base of about 150 cm now in my backyard which gets a lot of wind so the more sheltered yards might be up around 2 metres.
Pretty ridiculous huh?
Just look what you can do with it though! A friend on facebook told me that she used food colouring in a spray bottle to achieve this graffiti so it's totally green. On white.
