15 Minutes...Then I'm Finished!

Section of one of 3 backdrops for the figure skating performance. I just figured out today that I'm charging them about 75 cents per square foot. They had been thinking that my price was 'a little low'.
Somebody hand me a gun...I have a foot that needs shooting...

In These Lean Times

...sometimes a bear is reduced to digging for roots instead of feasting on the normally reliable salmon. This is most likely a hole dug by a grizzly last fall in a late season attempt to pack away enough calories to last the winter.
When we moved up here almost 3 decades ago, grizzlies were rare but now they practically ring the town. Couldn't possibly be due to people tossing their hunting debris all over the area no more than a block outside of town could it?? Nah.
Not looking forward to when they wake up...which should be about...now.

A Few Of My Favorite Trees

Cottonwoods in winter; good in any season though...

More River

More ice. We've had enough cold weather this year that the river has piled up some large chunks of ice.
I like ice.
And rocks.
who doesn't like rocks??

Down By The River

We went a-walkin' beside the Kitimat river and I took a whole crap-load of photos. Later on we went to Seamaster's restaurant in Kitamaat village where I saw a humpback whale for the very first time. While eating prawns!!!
Went home and watched the Academy Awards. Pretty good day all around.

If Sci-Fi Was Dance...

It would be in the form of Move-The Company.
I'm still all fired up from last night's performance. Wonderful choreography and dancing - especially by uber-young artistic director Josh Beamish (who is all of fah-reakin' 21!!!?)
Can't believe how inspiring it was...I got to tell him that although I love to attend dance events I'm always somewhat ambivalent...but for this one he made an old, failed dancer smile.

Took a walk in thought through my potential works for my exhibit this coming November...and yeah...I like it...think I got some decent stuff coming up.

Snapshots From My Day...

Started the day with an art class involving grade 3's and watercolour depicting outer space. We prepared the surface with a wash of dark colour leaving areas for planets and stars/suns. I noted someone's painting had the 'Lobster Nebula' which they found hillarious so I informed them that nebulas are normally named after an object they resemble...then encouraged each student to develop their own galaxy with any unique planets/suns/features. The results were most satisfying and will make a great display on the wall outside the classroom.
(the teacher showed me the folder where she's kept all the examples I've painted with her classes over the years so I scurried back to my piece - neglecting students for a couple of minutes - so I could improve on it for posterity)

Two or three venues later and into the evening while at Art Club I solved a persistent 'medical' situation - turns out a pain in my chest has been the result of a stray piece of metal from my cheapo underwire bra - coudn't shorten it so I'd put a loop on it and it's been pressing into my chest for days giving me owies...
*note to self - invest in new undergarments tomorrow.
