A Trip Down to Vegetable Patch

Started out as raddichio...might need to lose the remaining recognizable leafiness?
Hmmm...ponder, ponder...
Any feedback is welcome! The image can be flipped in any direction as well.

On another note:
TwinA and TwinB worked together tonight at a cosmetics gala. 'A pulled 'B in to draw portraits as a gift with purchase on $X of skin care... TwinA sold a bundle and TwinB produced over a dozen portraits for happy staff and customers!
Makes a Maw proud!

Into The Ocean

Got a little further into our mural today. Oh hey! we actually finished the background!
Here's a grade 9 with her humpback whale. I helped with the drawing but she nailed the painting. Now to populate our environment with a few more critters and crawlies!

Distractions

Ever try to get a group of students focused on learning some finicky artwork after school when they have a perfect upper floor view of a house fire? Not the best of conditions...nope. They did make some progress after it had been contained which is about when I snapped this photo.

Our 'distraction' unfortunately turned out to be devastation for an artist friend in town. The fire so completely destroyed her home that she was left absolutely nothing - not a stitch to wear - all artwork gone.

I'm always acutely aware that soon enough - every time- I'll find out for whom the bell tolls.

The Fall

You want to see a gorgeous movie? Stunning scenery and enchanting characters?
The Fall fits the bill.
I think I want to live there...oh, and I'd have to be about 25 years younger.

Mural @ MESS

We launched our Below the North Pacific mural today, completing about 2/3 of the background.
The girls couldn't stop grinning and some of them kept going out of the hall then returning to get a fresh impression. I'd like to do some airbrushing if the The Husband can rescue my airbrush from the dried paint that I invariably leave behind...but I try to clean it...I really do!
Next date will be this Friday - for 8 hours if necessary.

Grade 7s + Charcoal + Friday Afternoon

What could possibly go wrong??
It could have been worse, though their attention spans matched that of a 5 year old's By the time I got to this spider I couldn't get them to watch anything ....probably could have demonstrated step by step draw-your-own-porn in charcoal and not elicited much more reaction. The teacher forced them to actually look at it so they all rallied valiantly and emerged from their semi-comas enough that I'd say they appreciated it.

Found, Lost And Found Again

I've been gathering rusty bits and taking photos of derelict buildings in order to collect reference material for my senior's acrylics class. They're possibly the most motivated adult group I've ever experienced which has resulted in getting off my ass and prepping more thoroughly than I've done in the past. I don't spoon feed them as much either; I've forced them to draw more and design their own compositions on occasion.
So - in the process I rediscovered some lovely rust debris someone gave me and what did I finally notice?? There's a section of saw blade with an accidental heart shape in it! After I'd piled my selection together I thought it made a nice composition in itself (what with the chain over the heart) - now ... for a title...

...got it! 'Unrequited'
